Starting a blog is honestly one of the best things I ever did. I have been blogging for over a decade and trust me, when I look back I feel this is the best decision of my life. A couple of years back I have had my baby boy and I was still able to work a little bit soon after my delivery on my blogs(around within a week of delivery). I am not encouraging you to work right after the delivery but my main purpose here is to tell you, how easy and lucrative blogging is if you are doing consistant and the right amount of work.

For me, working on my blogs soon after the delivery(it was a normal one) was not tiring and not overwhelming(I was just spending a few minutes checking my email, replying to them and doing the very urgent work, rest was automated and already planned). Infact I was enjoying it. Actually, blogging gives you such felxibility that even if you are a new mom and struggling with that after-deliver care, delivery stitches, consistant ongoing care for your baby and that post partum depression, you can still have something of your own and treat it at a hobby that heals you from within(I personally feel blogging is really relaxing and is full of creativity). You can easily spare an hour daily or even some minutes and still your blog keeps on running and generating constant income for you. And that’s the beauty of blogging. Blogging is so empowering.

Overall, your blog is something you build and nurture with love. After my delivery I realised that I could have never been able to work so flexibly after having a baby (not in my regular 9-5 job at least). Thankfully, I have my blogs to support me financially and mentally. They are my assets which I have created with regular and consistant work over the years.
Being a mom to a toddler, I know how overwhelming it is to be a mom. You are doing your mom duty 24×7 without resting. If I talk about myself, I have blogs in different niches such as beauty, fashion, art and finance and still spare sometime to work on my blogs.
So, today let’s talk about “How to start a mom blog and how to become a mommy blogger”. After all, most of us are mom’s who have so much going on in life and have so much to share with other moms and parents. And this could be the best “niche” for a mom to start a blog of her own. So, I thought why not share my experience with all the mom’s out there who are struggling to earn money and have something of their own. So, if you’ve ever thought about sharing your motherhood journey, connecting with other moms, or even turning your passions into profit, then keep reading—because I’m breaking down exactly how to start a mom blog for beginners, in a way that’s simple, doable, and actually fun! By spending even minimal time, you can build a full time business out of your blog(even if you spend few hours in a week).
Let’s begin:
Why Start a Mom Blog?
First of all, let’s talk about why. Maybe you want a creative outlet. Maybe you’re trying to document your journey. Or maybe you’re thinking, “Can I make money from home while being with my kids?” (Spoiler: yes, you can!) Whatever your reason, blogging gives you a space to grow, share, and build something that’s truly yours.
A mom blog can help you build your personal brand, form supportive communities, and even advocate for issues close to your heart. It’s not just about sharing diaper hacks—it can become a full-on movement. From daily routines to deep thoughts about parenting, your voice could be exactly what another mom needs.
As already mentioned above, blogging also gives you flexibility. You can work on your schedule, take breaks when needed, and gradually scale your content into a money-making machine. And in today’s digital age, where people turn to Google and Pinterest for everything from baby names to toddler tantrum tips, your blog could be a go-to resource for moms everywhere.

Step 1: Find Your Niche (Don’t Overthink It)
This is where most people get stuck. “What should I blog about?” Here’s the truth: you already know. Think about what you’re passionate about or what your friends always ask you for advice on. Do you love talking about mom fashion, or maybe you’re navigating life as a single mom? That’s your niche!
Here are a few niche ideas:
- Asian mom blog
- Anxiety mom blog
- Mom edit blog (aka your personal takes on fashion or lifestyle)
- Mormon mom blogs
- Mommy diaries – daily life, chaos, routines, and wins
- Fashion blog for moms
- Stay at home mom blogs
- Single mom blogs
- Working mother blog
The clearer your niche, the easier it is to connect with your readers. You don’t need to fit into a box—just be authentic. Some of the best mom blogs to follow are the ones that feel like talking to a best friend.
You can even blend multiple niches together. For example, a “mommy fashion + self-care” blog or a “mom on a mission blog” that focuses on parenting with purpose.
Step 2: Name Your Blog (Have Fun With It)
Your blog name is your brand. Make it YOU. It can be cute, quirky, personal, or even descriptive. Examples? “Mom on a Mission Blog,” “The Sleepy Mama,” or “Crumbs & Chaos.” Just make sure it’s available as a domain name (you can check on GoDaddy or Namecheap).
Keep your name simple and memorable. Try saying it out loud or imagining someone typing it into Google. If it feels good, go with it!
Also, check for name availability on social platforms like Instagram and Pinterest. You want consistency across your brand.
Step 3: Set Up Your Blog (Tech Doesn’t Have to Be Scary)
You don’t need to be tech-savvy. Here’s the basic setup:
- Domain name: Buy your blog’s name (usually around $10/year).
- Hosting: Use something like Bluehost or SiteGround.
- WordPress: Install it with one click. It’s easy and FREE.
WordPress gives you full control. You can pick your theme, add plugins, and grow your site however you want. There are tons of tutorials on YouTube and Pinterest that walk you through the setup step-by-step.
And don’t forget to set up essential pages: About, Contact, Privacy Policy, and a Blog page. These helps in improving boost your site’s credibility and SEO ranking. Check out our guide on “how to start a blog and make money“.
Step 4: Design Your Blog (Make It Pretty + Functional)
Choose a clean, mobile-friendly theme. Use Canva to design your logo and Pinterest pins. Keep your design simple and readable. Remember: white space is your friend. Also, stay consistent with your colors and fonts—it’s part of your skincare aesthetic (but for blogs, lol).
Make navigation easy. Use menus to separate your content into categories like “Parenting,” “Beauty,” “Home Life,” or “Fashion.” A clear layout helps readers stay longer and return often.
Add a sidebar with social media links, an email sign-up form, and popular posts. Make your readers feel at home.
Step 5: Plan Your Content (People Want Realness)

Blogging isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being real. Plan your first 10–20 blog post ideas. Here are some prompts:

Keep on creating a mix of evergreen content which is always relevant and timely posts. For example, a “mom’s back-to-school survival guide” is great for August/September.
Step 6: Promote Like a Pro (Without Burnout)
You don’t need to be everywhere. Start with Pinterest—it’s GOLD for mom bloggers. Trust me, you can make money on Pinterest pinning and there is no limit to it. Make beautiful, clickable pins using Canva. Add keywords like:

Step 9: Connect with Your Audience
Share your story. Respond to comments. Be vulnerable when needed. Your readers want to feel seen and heard. The best mom blogs aren’t perfect—they’re personal.
Write newsletters, start a Facebook group, or host IG Lives. Engaging with your readers will build trust, loyalty, and community. That’s how some of the top parenting blogs thrive.
